Uzbekistan says it wants to help put an end to the war in neighbouring Afghanistan, which has raged since 2001.

The country's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has organised a two-day conference in the capital Tashkent starting on Monday.

It is part of efforts to encourage the Afghan government and the Taliban to engage in peace talks.
