Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei accused the United States of generating instability in the Middle East and said Iran only helped nations that requested it, during a wide-ranging speech to pilgrims in Mashhad on Wednesday.

Speaking on the day a suicide blast killed at least 26 in Kabul, "It's been fourteen years since the United States arrived in Afghanistan, since they amassed there. Do you have security in Afghanistan?"

The Supreme Leader said Iran did not interfere in the affairs of other nations in the region, and only "assisted governments and people of the region who asked us."
