The Heat: US-Latin America relations Pt 2

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson is on his first tour of Latin America and taking the opportunity to put pressure on Venezuela. Tillerson’s tour of Latin America has focused on the political situation in Venezuela, as well as addressing issues such as drug trafficking and trade. The U.S. Secretary of State’s trip is also being viewed as the United States looking to regain influence in a region it has historically considered its backyard. To discuss the role of the United State in Latin America: Cecilia Nahon, Argentina’s former Ambassador to the United States. Benjamin Gedan, former South America director on President Barack Obama’s National Security Council. Temir Porrasm visiting professor at Sciences Po University and a former Venezuelan career diplomat. Kevin Casas, second vice president in Costa Rica. He’s currently a distinguished Scholar-in-Residence at the University of Texas at Dallas.
