🇵🇸 Mahmoud Abbas to deliver a rare address at UNSC meeting

Israel's UN Ambassador says such a move will put an end to any possibility of future peace talks.

Every month, the Council meets to discuss the conflict. Normally Ambassadors of Israel and of Palestine attend but in an unusual move, President Mahmoud Abbas will himself attend.

He is angered by the Trump administration’s decision to formally recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital and the last straw was President Trump’s attack on him last week at Davos.

It follows tension over the US decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
