Eddie ‘The Eagle’ embodies Olympic spirit

He was handicapped by his near-sightedness, requiring him to wear thick eyeglasses at all times, but that did not stop Michael "Eddie" Edwards from taking up ski jumping and becoming a rare competitor for Great Britain in the Olympic sport. The man dubbed Eddie "The Eagle" may have finished last in his events at the 1988 Winter Olympics, but he has been praised for his attitude, which many say was a reflection of the true Olympic spirit.
