A news network in Colombia whose reporters are former FARC rebels

Former combatants for the FARC rebel group have formed their own news network. And they’re giving victims a voice.

“Guerilla journalism” is a term used to describe citizens who report on stories and use their cellular phones to post them on social media platforms. In Colombia, that term has taken on new meaning as former guerillas for the FARC rebel army have launched their own media network.

They are making it their goal to cover both sides of the story in Colombia and not just use the network as a platform for the new FARC political party. The endeavor is potentially a big step forward in the reconciliation process after the country’s long and bloody armed conflict.

But as Correspondent Michelle Begue reports not everyone is giving the new network a warm welcome.
