Africa reacts to Trump's 'racist slur'

Africans express outrage after President Trump reportedly used crude language to describe African countries, as well as Haiti and El Salvador. Also, DR Congo security forces disperse worshippers as they gather to commemorate victims who died during a crackdown on New Year's Eve protests. And, Algerian Berbers mark their New Year as a public holiday. It's the first time official events celebrating the "Yennayer" have been held nationwide.
Senegal's President Macky Sall has joined a growing chorus of people condemning President Trump, after he reportedly used vulgar language to describe African countries, as well as Haiti and El Salvador. The alleged outburst came as Trump met privately with lawmakers at the Oval Office.
And in DR Congo this Friday, security forces fired warning shots to disperse people gathered in front of Kinshasa cathedral this Friday. Crowds were there for a mass to commemorate the victims of a crackdown on New Year's Eve protests calling for president, Joseph Kabila, to resign. Inside the church, a packed congregation, cheered as Catholic leaders urged Kabila to uphold a 2016 church-brokered deal.
Finally, Algerian Berbers have this Friday been marking their New Year as a public holiday. It's the first time official events celebrating the "Yennayer" are being held across the entire country.
