A favela in Sao Paulo using music to combat crime

He built a recording studio in one of Brazil’s most dangerous slums and turned it into a “Favela of Peace.”

Claudio Miranda, a musician who grew up in one of Brazil’s most violent neighborhoods, has changed his hometown for the better by building a recording studio.

His belief is that music brings out the good in people and helps create unity. The studio is part of Claudio’s non-profit organization called “Favela of Peace.”

There are an estimated 17 hundred favelas located in Sao Paulo. They house over a million and a half of the city’s residents.
